Hi, I am replying to myself! A bit wierd but anyway, after writing my post I thnk I sort of answered my own question - yes the baby bagworms are destroying my tree! So last night I was picking them off by hand and throwing them out into the garden tomake homes elsewhere. My tree does not look good. i hope it recovers.
Hi everyone. I have a standard grevilla in a large pot. I have had a big bag worm living in it for some time. I noticed a fine white silk eminating from the bagworm onto the railing and the next day I saw millions of tiny bag worm babies all over the railing and hanging off the silk web. The cameilla tree underneath it has numerous holes in the leaves. I was looking at the tree the other day and noticed small lumps of sticks just slightly moving on the tree - I realsied the tree is COVERED in tiny bag worms starting to make their bags. The tree is not looking very good and I am concerned the bag worms are killing it and it will die. The tree does have a sooty mould on it and I have been treating it with a spray I bought at Bunnings. I love nature, but I also don't want my tree to die - it cost alot of money and I like it. Can anyone advise me on whether the baby bag worms are hurting the tree? Thanks.
