Does anyone know where you can buy TRUE free range eggs in the Illawarra where you can actually visit thefarm to ensure that they are free range and not caged substitutes, as apparently often occurs at the supermarkets ?

Manic Organic in Woonona sell eggs individually (bring you own carton) and I'm pretty sure they are local and genuinely free range (and possibly organic). I don't know the farm details but think they get them direct - maybe you could give the friendly folk at Manic a call and ask them. I agree, it's important to know where your eggs come from.

Thanks so much, in the meantime I have also discovered that Corrimal Wine & Deli in Railway Street are supplied by Fountaindale Farm in Robertson who assure me that their chickens are free range so at least I have some free range options now. Cheers and thanks for the info.

Have you tired going to the GERMAN Club markets that are on i think every 2nd Saturday or something like that at Kembla Grange. Also the local produce markets that are held every Friday in WOllongong Mall. They may sell organic eggs.

How about getting home hens yourself.. Unless u live in a unit. A couple of hens would not take much room up and then you will defainatly be sure they are organic. I saw a bargin hen coup on sale which would hold 3 to 4 hens at ALWAYS DIRECT if you google this. They its was on sale and delivery was only $20. Check it out. They are a joy to have and very easy pets.
